About the event

October 5th is dedicated to observing the national Latina Equal Pay Day of Action to raise awareness about the injustice that Latina women endure in the workplace. It’s a day to take stock of the persistent pay gap and to discuss the remedies to this problem. While there is no single, magic solution to closing the pay gap, there are changes we can make that, collectively, will right this wrong. Changes in the workplace culture and the public narrative about women and work in our country need to be changed. The deep-seated notions and unconscious biases that say women are less valuable or less capable than their male counterparts are reflected in the pay that women receive and the way they are treated. Employers must create safe and fair workplaces where people want to work—for their benefit as much as ours. To learn more, read Time Magazine's article HERE.
